The Mendez family brought their recipes with them from Merida, Mexico to Utah in 1993, and they’ve been so popular that the restaurant now offers three locations. The downtown Salt Lake City restaurant is located at 123 E. 200 S., Salt Lake City, UT 84111…

…and you’ll find the third location in the Fort Union area at 1891 Fort Union Blvd., Salt Lake City, UT 84121. All three are family-owned and operated, and three generations of the Mendez family work alongside each other to bring you the best Mexican food in the Beehive State.

The dining rooms of each location differ slightly, but all three are brightly-colored and cheerful. The service here is always super friendly, too.

Everything on the menu is homemade and delicious. Whether you’re in the mood for a few tacos, or a couple of enchiladas, you’ll find fresh ingredients and savory seasonings on your plate. But if you’re craving a burrito, bring your appetite with you.

The Biggest Burrito is a house specialty, and they’re not kidding - it’s the biggest burrito you’ll ever see. This thing is served up on a plate that’s the size of a turkey platter.

Stuffed with your choice of an entire pound of either chicken or pork, the burrito also includes sautéed peppers and onions, beans, rice, lettuce and tomato. Then it’s smothered in sauce and topped with cheese. This burrito will definitely satisfy your craving for burrito-y goodness. Share it with a friend - you’ll still have leftovers to take home for lunch tomorrow.
