When you consider beach towns throughout the Great Lakes State, Detroit might not be the first place that comes to mind. After all, our city is better known for its automotive factories and sports teams than its idyllic natural getaways; however, there’s one spot here in the Motor City where you’ll find an undeniable sense of peace. Grab some sunscreen and head out for a day at the beach without leaving Detroit.

If you’re a longtime Detroiter, you’ve likely spent time exploring the many attractions of Belle Isle. This stunning island park is overflowing with things to see and do.
