The historic element comes from the Barboursville Ruins. Visitors are encouraged to explore these ruins, which are the remnants of a landmark designed by Thomas Jefferson himself.

As you’ll learn from the informational sign, the building was almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1884. For over 100 years, the ruins have stood as a testament to the home and the family that once lived here.

Yet Barboursville is also teeming with new life. Just beyond the outdoor tasting patio, you’ll notice a beautiful expanse of wildflowers. This area is known as Allegrante Meadow and is a magical addition to the property.

The Allegrante Meadow is so beautiful, in fact, that it was the inspiration for a recently-released rosé.
