The Texas Hill Country is a hotbed for lavender farms, and they’ll be in full bloom very soon. The annual Blanco Lavender Festival celebrates the whimsical herb each year, and it’s an experience you’ll never forget.
This tiny town of just over 2,000 people swells to many times its size on the first weekend in June. Tourists and locals alike flock to the historic courthouse, where vendors abound at Lavender Market.

Over 100 lavender farms and craftspeople set up shop throughout the town square. They’ll be selling lavender plants, beauty products made from the fragrant herb, jewelry, bags, and so many more homemade goodies.

Admission to the area farm, Hill Country Lavender, is free during the festival. This was the very first farm of its kind in Texas, having opened way back in 1999.

Food and live music keep the fun going all weekend long. There’s also a speaker’s pavilion where agriculture experts will give tips on growing lavender, beekeeping, and general farming advice.

Several of the region’s best wineries and brewing companies have their very own tent. Stop by on your way out and cool off with some delicious samples.

The festival takes place from June 7-9. Hours are Noon-6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
