Just steps from the local shipyards, this place opened up in the ’70s as a spot where sailors could fuel up with hearty, simple and tasty fare. You’ll still find some of those guys here, but word has gotten out and Anchor Bar is one of the more popular spots in town.

These folks keep it simple. They’re cash only. The menu doesn’t feature appetizers or fish options or even a chicken sandwich. This place is “go burgers, or go home.” But when you make burgers and fries as scrumptious as these guys do, no additional frills are necessary.

Everything here is super fresh. They go through more than 1000 pounds of fresh beef per week to make thousands of burger patties. Same goes for the french fries, which are fresh cut from the more than 2000 pounds of potatoes they bring in each week - that’s more than a ton of fries getting served every week.
