With the summer season quickly approaching (and the hot temps coming even faster), finding ways to stay cool is at the top of everyone’s priority list. Lucky for you, we’ve done some digging around and found some waterfront parks that are perfect for a summer day. Take a look:
- Leake County Water Park

Spend your time fishing off the pier, doing some canoeing, or swimming in the on-site pool. The park’s amenities don’t end there, though. There are also hiking trails, a playground, grills, campground, and more.

- Buccaneer State Park
mdwfp.com Located on the beach in Waveland, this state park has a lot to offer, including primitive and developed camping, nature trails, disc golf, and an incredible on-site water park. Dubbed Buccaneer Bay, the 4.5-acre water park overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and features several slides, a wave pool, snack bar, and more.

- Pep’s Point Water Park
Pep’s Point Water Park and Adventures/Facebook This “laid back country water park” is the perfect place to beat the heat! In business since 1939, the lakeside park has a white sand beach, canoes and paddle boats, pavilion, picnic tables, volleyball nets, miniature golf, and water slides that flow directly into the lake.

- Flint Creek Water Park
Splash of Fun Waterparks If you’re looking for a great place to cool off this summer, this park should definitely be on your radar. Located in the small town of Wiggins, the hidden gem features a lake, beach, water slides, and more.

- Merit Water Park
Bruce Robertson/Google Perfect for all those nature lovers out there, this 25-acre park is located right on Rials Creek. There may not be any waterslides here, but the park does feature a beautiful waterfall and old-fashioned swimming hole. And since Rials Creek is spring-fed, the water is nice and cold all year long.

- J.P. Coleman State Park
Tommy Griffith/Google Not only does this state park overlook the Tennessee River, but it also includes Pickwick Lake. The gorgeous 47,500-acre lake is perfect for all sorts of water activities, including swimming, and even features a 50’ waterfall.

- Dunn’s Falls Water Park
Hunter Mcdowell/Google This secluded water park is hidden in the hills along the Chunky River. The perfect place to “splash, grill, play, or chill,” it features picnic tables, grills, primitive campsites, and a 65’ waterfall. The crystal clear waters of the river are perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day, and since the area directly below the waterfall isn’t too deep, it’s a great spot for swimmers of all ages.
