Kansas is full of natural scenery that’s always blowing us away. For those of us who haven’t hiked a lot but want to make it a good part of this year, you’ll enjoy these beginners trails that offer a wide variety of length and scenery. Kansas has a lot to offer, if only you look!

  1. Chisholm Creek Park - Wichita, KS

Paula Michelle/AllTrails This beautiful park in Wichita seems like a mini oasis away from all of the cars and buildings. You can faintly hear traffic, but most of the 2 mile trail is full of trees and water features. My favorite part is the osage tree tunnel pictured above.

  1. Prairie Sunset Trail - Goddard, KS

Karhy Hill/AllTrails This beautiful 12 mile trail (out and back) through the trees is stunning if you’re ever near the Goddard area. If you live near Wichita, this might be the winner for you as well.

  1. Santa Fe Lake - Augusta, KS

Kevin McArthur/AllTrails This beautiful lake trail is near 5 miles, and features a beautiful waterfall that’s perfect for photos after there has been a good rain. Who doesn’t love a waterfall?

  1. Osage Nature Trail - Newton, KS

Rachel Sample/AllTrails This short 2 mile loop near Newton is perfect for beginners, with a cute footbridge and plenty of tree cover. There’s also an extra half-mile loop you can add on to see a memorial while you’re here.

  1. River Walk - Junction City, KS

Michele Ginge/rAllTrails We’ve all mostly seen the Wichita river walk, but this one in Junction City is one many of us haven’t yet explored. It’s a cool 9.3 miles, but each mile gives you an amazing view.

  1. Rock Town Trail - Lucas, KS

Anthony Martinez/AllTrails Wilson State Park is a beautiful place to visit, and this Rock Town Trail shows you almost every part of this beautiful park.

  1. Konza Godwin Hill Loop - Manhattan, KS

Michael Butler/AllTrails The Konza Prairie is absolutely breathtaking. This 6 mile trail through it is one of my favorite ways to see everything it has to offer without spending all day here.

If you like to travel across the state like we do, why not also check out this road trip full of cool Kansas attractions?
