You know, some Wyoming stereotypes are true. We’re hard workers, we’re independent, and whether we live in the city or off the grid, we’ve got some things in common. If you’ve lived here long enough, your house is sure to be home to the following items:
- Whiskey.
Flickr / m01229 We don’t waste our time with light beer out here. If we’re drinking, it’s probably whiskey, and if it’s not whiskey, it’s probably gin.
- Some sort of firearm.
Flickr / Paul Weaver We love to shoot. Wyoming has more guns per capita than any other state, and we’re proud of that.
- Well worn work boots.
Flicker / Alister Coyne Almost everyone out here has a favorite brand of boots, and we’ll wear them until they’re talking back to us.
- Hand-tied flies.
Flickr / Lorena Price Whether you tie them yourself or have a relative that loves making flies, most of us have a box of them somewhere. Fishing is just part of growing up out here.
- Jerky!
Flickr / LesleyK Many Wyomingites make their own jerky, but it’s also easy to find in local stores, side of the road stands, and outlets across the state. Beef, bison, and elk jerky are some of the most popular.
- Arrowheads you found on a hike.
Flickr / Carol Hernandez If you spend any time out in the Wyoming wilderness, you’ll find arrowheads. Kids in particular love to take them home and save them as souvenirs.
- Some Brown & Gold
Facebook / University Store Go Pokes! If you don’t have a Wyoming hoodie, are you really even from the West? Even if we didn’t go to Laramie, there’s a good chance we have a shirt or a sweatshirt that helps us support our University.
