- Enjoy the persistent rainy season.
Google/David D We’ll begin with an activity you could easily do this week - waterfall chasing. These particular falls are flowing especially well because of all the recent rain. A soggy hike is well worth the reward to these elusive falls.
- Have a funky and fun getaway with friends.
Facebook/Flamingo Springs Flamingo Springs Trailer Resort is the most ridiculously cute spot for a weekend getaway. Each trailer has a unique theme from Friends to this one, the Pink Fuzzy Unicorn. Read more about our favorite place for a girls’ trip.
- Stop by for a pop of color.
TripAdvisor/ The bland background of winter will soon melt (or should we say dry) away which means the Natural State will return to its gorgeous colorful hue. Absorb the lush vibes at the Blue Springs Heritage Center in Eureka Springs for a day of relaxation. The Heritage Center is just one of the best places to visit for colorful springtime retreat.
- Frolic through the wildflower fields.
Facebook/Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission There’s really no better way to truly enjoy the warm weather than by frolicking through one of the state’s wildflower fields. This one outside of Charleston is nothing but perfectly purple blazing star flowers. Pass the day away at this prairie natural area.
- Visit the fairies.
TripAdvisor/Teresa M A tiny treasure at the Garvan Woodland Gardens is the Jerry Lewis Fairy Garden. The miniature village was designed using tree stumps and natural decorations (like pine cones and such) found around the rest of the gardens. This .magical fairy trail will utterly delight you and your family.
- Drive through this tunnel of trees.
Flickr/Tom Check The best winding road through the state is none other than Highway 23. Dubbed as the Pig Trail, this drive is a motorcyclist’s dream. The scenic drive is a positively enchanting tour through the trees.
- Stroll through a butterfly house.
Facebook/Botanical Garden of the Ozarks One of your springtime trips needs to be to the only botanical garden in Arkansas. Fayetteville’s Botanical Garden of the Ozarks is home to the state’s only butterfly house, and it’s simply magical. Any age will love the flora and fauna of the butterfly house.
- Find fresh vegetables at the state’s largest farmers market.
Google/James Fields Before you visit the butterfly house be sure to stop by Fayetteville’s farmers market. The square-wide market has just about every homegrown and artisan-created product you could ever want. This magnificent farmers market also has live performances.
- Spend some time camping out.
Facebook/Buffalo National River Warmer weather means it’s time to break out the tents. One of our favorite spots along the Buffalo River is at Tyler Bend. This spot along the river has a perfect blend of elements that create one of the best campgrounds in the state.
- Actually, spend a lot of time camping out.
Flickr/Adam Simmons Don’t just stop after one overnight along the Buffalo. Every corner of the state has its own unique experience that’s perfect to enjoy during springtime. Here are a couple of more camping spots you should definitely visit this season.
- Sip wines in a tiny yurt.
Facebook/An Enchanted Evening We absolutely adore the wine trail in Altus but prefer to take it during the fall (during the Wiederkehr Wine Festival). However, don’t feel like you’re out of options because we have another wine stop to take this season. An Enchanted Evening in Roland has a teeny tiny yurt winery.
- Hike to a beautiful bluff
Facebook/Arkansas Fun & Adventures Not every trail should be taken in spring; after all, the fresh leaves can turn an easy path into a time-consuming bushwhack. This trail is a lovely exception to the guideline since it’s just a quick climb to an amazing bluff. The Strawberry Bluff Trail is a great first hike of the season.
- Take on a ton of trails.
Flickr/Mike Norton Strawberry Bluff is a great first step into the an early hiking season but it shouldn’t be your last. Arkansas is filled with a myriad of trails that are perfect for springtime. These easy hikes showcase the newfound greenery of the state.
- Travel through the trees.
Facebook/Adventureworks Hot Springs Although the ziplines of Adventureworks Hot Springs are open year round, zooming through the new growth of the forest is a pleasant way to kickoff spring. Their recently added aerial course is quite the rewarding challenge.
- Take a lunch break with a view.
Facebook/Byrd’s Adventure Center After all that springtime adventuring, you’ll definitely want to have a good lunch break. The Mulberry Riverfront Restaurant is one of the only eateries that you can fly, boat, or drive to in Arkansas. The one-of-a-kind restaurant is wonderful place to refuel.
